We will let the paint and water do the work for us as we focus on creating a flowing sky that makes it's own clouds, add a bit of pink glow behind the main tree then create a soft, distant skyline of peach trees. Then we will create the trunk/texture for the foreground peach tree and add blossoms. Next will be the ground/field and last some extra detail and texture.

This class is for beginners - don’t be intimidated! If you did not take the first “Back to Basics” class in January don’t worry - you can still take this one as it is a different class exploring wet-in-wet techniques. We are going to create small abstract pieces that will help us learn basic watercolor skills. We will practice simple brush strokes that we will use to create texture, get a handle on how much water is enough and how much is too much, we will use primarily wet-in wet techniques, then add wet-in-dry strokes to create interesting textures and patterns adding some mixed media embellishments. At the end of the day we will have a better understanding of how water color paints work and how to use their unique characteristics to your advantage.

Seriously, who doesn't love winter birch trees! As I prepare this class I'm enjoying being "snowed in" for a January weekend but by the time we do this class together this storm will be a distant memory. I'm OK with that and I hope you are too.
We will focus on creating a great flowing sky that can be used in your next landscape that isn't winter! If you have taken my other birch tree classes, don't worry because this is a different process and I think you'll like it and it will give you another technique to add to the mix. Want to change it up.little? See the example second that isn't quite so wintery!
