Artist Bio

I have been pursuing art for over 30 years and started as a detailed portrait artist in my early high school years. Growing up with a mother who owned an oriental rug store, I spent my childhood climbing on piles of rugs from various regions and cultural histories. This tactile sensory experience influenced my love for details and intricate designs, often reflected in my paintings with Klimt or Van Gogh-like movement.

Since 2022, I have embraced a more intuitive approach to painting, forgoing plans, models, or reference photos. Each painting is an emotional journey, exploring elements of surrealism, post-modernism, magical realism, and realism. I have also been incorporating more landscapes, cloudscapes, and seascapes with a fantastical feel. My work is predominantly done in acrylics or mixed media. I strive to build my artistic talents and processes continually, growing in the different mediums I use.

Artist Statement

I am a self-taught artist with over 30 years of experience, yet I still consider my approach to life and art to be more of an explorer, lover, and healer than a traditional artist. My greatest joy in art is the thrill of the release during the actual act of making art and the idea that something is created from what seems like nothing. As an avid emotional creator, I exhibit a penance for my lack of an inner visual world through lively, striking, and intuitive art. My paintings combine vivid accent lighting and vibrant, sometimes contrasting, and bold colors to make statements or move the viewer to experience emotions as I do and escape with me into a dreamlike reality.

Art, for me, is a tool to obediently tap into my psyche and dreams, feeling my way through every step of my process. I am passionate about overcoming limiting beliefs and desire to present my vulnerability in my art to inspire others on their own journey. My work explores the psychological realm of confusion, joy, sorrow, pain, and the depths we allow or limits that we put on ourselves in experiencing our humanity. I delve deeper into inner turmoil, cognitive dissonance, and the process of healing and release through my paintings, embracing the artistic fluidity of my subconscious.
